Now that living through hurricanes are old hat, the season is about over. The link above is some stories on it, though I'm sure you've seen the news coverage. I guess that's the ironic part of all of it..we didn't see any of the news coverage. We are so lucky to have power and water and phones back at this point. Yes, there are fish in the swimming pool..., schools of them infact....yes, the yard looks like winter, all dead and brown from the salt water flooding everything. Our garage has a new smell....we've termed it "Mermaid Ass". Our house is on stilts, 'cause this is a common occurrence around here, but we still suffered damage, to things that aren't replaceable. Pictures, books, memories, but all in all, we're ok. Key West is a bit battered, and at one point, the aquarium downtown had some issues with sharks on the city streets ( again the flooding), but we're coming together, cleaning shit up, and even having a good time....
See? Ah the spirit of the island. Fantasy Fest has been post poned, but that doesn't stop the folks around here. That just means we're having 2 Fantasty Fests this year...Oh, and we're playing music during the one in December...kick ass. You'll not want to miss that show! The Toga Party is rescheduled, so we have lots of time to work on our costume....haha.
It's like an extra Halloween, which is listed as one of my favorite holidays, so it works out well for everyone!!

Another day in paradise
that's what we call everyday around here. I haven't checked in for a while, thought I'd see how everyone was! It's October already, but it's hard to tell around here. The whole tropical thing makes it hard to imagine red and gold maple trees, cups of hot cider and bon fires on cool evenings. Happy Fall, even if it doesn't feel like it to me. All this talk about the fall makes me a bit home sick, but I know that won't last long. Especially when snow sets in, and we're still laying by the pool! Which is what I did this weekend. Napped, read my favorite books, just for some added comfort, and played music. Does it get any better for me? No. I've got the coffee IV hooked up today, I mean straight to the bloodstream please!!! I love the whole "let's play music till wee hours of the morning"...the part I dislike is "let's get up early to go to work the next day". Minus that, it's great! Snow crab season is open here. I only know this because for a tip for playing music last night we recieved a big bag of crabs, and a bottle of wine. That's love for ya, right there! It's cloudy here today, and there's talk of another hurricane. I feel like a nap may be in order this afternoon.
Have a good Tuesday

Sloppy Joes is a bar here in Key West that is famous. I'm not really sure why, but it is. Actually, years ago, Ernest Hemmingway's favorite bar was Sloppy Joes. I'm sure it's changed considerably since then. I like the place, I do. I mean, they hire us to play music there, but somehow, there is always some drama when we're there..the waitress is rude, or we hear her bitching about how much tip we left her...crap like that. They are smart, those Sloppys, the tourist love that shit. Thus the hiring of the musicians. We'll be playing there on Thursday, October 6th from noon to five oclock eastern time. No, it's not a strange time to play, people in Key West start drinking very early! You can visit www.sloppyjoes.com and catch the web cam, if you're feeling froggy. Yikes, my mom used that phrase "if you're felling froggy, JUMP!" I'm either becoming my mother, or it's a catchy phrase..yeah it's catchy! Hope you get to see the show. I hear the sound isn't all that great unless you have a super fast connectiion, but either way, you're invited!
